About Mandal

Ideology

Seva Mitra Mandal was established in 1965 with an endeavor to realize the Lokmanya’s dream of ‘Ganeshotsav’. Our motto is “सेवा परमो धर्म:” which means Service is our religion and we are committed to it. Since these 47 years, we have been working to generate awareness about various social issues concerning life, education, science, innovations, etc. Today, Seva Mitra Mandal is one the most recognized Mandals known for its social welfare activities.
Rather than confining ourselves to the 10 days of festival, We carryout many social and cultural programs throughout the year.

Ganeshotsav

Every year we celebrate Ganeshotsav by bringing forward a social issue. Some of the issues we have presented in the last decade in a very innovative format and for which we were able to bring about some significant social awareness are:

Pollution Control

Traffic Issues

Wildlife preservation

India Vision 2020

Illiteracy

Corruption

Terrorism

Old age homes

Premature Motherhood

Rain Water harvesting and Water Pollution

Preservation of historical monuments

Unconventional sources of energy

Over the Year

Apart from Ganeshotsav, we are active around the year with close to 30-40 different programs of social and cultural importance. Some of those are very close to our hearts:
Summer camp for orphaned children, Monsoon picnic for blind girls, Felicitation of workmen who have contributed a lot towards the society but are left neglected, Raksha Bandhan with the soldiers at the Kharkee’s Paraplegic Center, Celebrating first day at school with some social awareness, Meals to Varkaris and providing them some help for the pilgrimage, Helping the old age homes, Felicitation of Teachers who serve the society altruistically but are not given the due respect, ‘Toran’, on Bicycles, Fort making competition, Fancy dress competition, Lighting the first deep of Diwali at a veteran soldiers house, ‘Bhaubeej’ with soldiers and their families, distributing sweets to the poor, providing the orphanges with new dreses for the kids on Diwali and many more, the list goes on. Yet we believe there is still a lot to be done.
